Biggest, BOLDEST plan yet announced for SDSU

When we welcome back alumni for their 50th reunion it never fails that someone in the class is returning for the first time since graduating. Maybe that’s you, or maybe, like me, you can’t even imagine how disorienting it must be to come back to campus after all that time with all of the changes in the five decades that separate those visits.A woman poses in front of a book shelf

If when you visit, you think SDSU looks a lot different than it did 5, 10, 20 or 50 years ago, it should. In just the last two decades, the landscape of SDSU has changed dramatically, and it needed to. As the pace of the world increases, our responsibility is to prepare graduates for the environments they will work in. We are in the business of preparing the leaders of respective industries and communities.

That work requires state-of-the-art facilities and support to prepare graduates to be leaders in their professions and communities. In this issue, we share the biggest, BOLDEST plan yet for SDSU. The SDSU Foundation announced a $500 million goal for Bold & Blue, The Campaign for South Dakota State University. I am excited for you to learn more about what this means for the future of our alma mater.

It is a privilege to watch SDSU transform to meet the needs of our state, region, country and world. I hope you won’t wait 50 years to come back and visit us. But, if that is you and you are a member of the class of 1972, mark your calendar for Sept. 9-10, 2022, we are excited to welcome you home.

With loyal heart so true,

Andi Fouberg
President & CEO of Alumni Association
