Jacks Give Back

• SDSU alumni who are members of the Grapevine Garden Club volunteered at the annual plant sale in Grapevine, Texas. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the club’s scholarships program and community beautification projects.

While weather threatened again this year, Jackrabbits came together to make an impact in their communities for the Alumni Association’s second annual #JacksGiveBack. On April 13, hundreds of alumni, students and friends found a variety of ways to serve their local communities and people in other parts of the world. #JacksGiveBack was scheduled to coincide with National Volunteerism Week and was held in conjunction with a student effort called The Big Event.

Across the country, alumni organized collection drives for everything from food to children’s books to art supplies. They also gathered at local food distribution centers to prepare a meal or boxes for those in need; volunteered at a local event or fundraiser; and packed food for children or families halfway around the world. The impact of the few hours of work will be felt by many for years to come.
