Where there are Jackrabbits, there is momentum.Â
Nothing proves this more than the success of the fifth annual One Day for STATE celebration.Â
On September 2nd, 5,438 donors came together as one, raising $1,940,896 to transform lives at SDSU, bolstering scholarships, academic programming, research, athletics, and student support. The total number of donors saw a jump of over 550 more than last year’s event. Of the 5,438 donors, 517 identified as current students and 484 as faculty/ staff, demonstrating the unfailing loyalty of the Jackrabbits family.Â
More than 630 active social ambassadors helped spread the word online, and over 60 challenge donors took the first step in making a difference, inspiring all of Jackrabbit Nation to follow their lead. Together as one, the yellow and blue community hit a new all-time high milestone of 7,148 total gifts.Â
For the second year in a row, One Day for STATE also succeeded in inspiring donors from each of the fifty states to join in the excitement, unlocking $50,000 in challenge funds in the process.Â
This year’s celebration brought about the return of some favorite local events, like Jack’s Journey around Brookings and the Yellow and Blue Block Party. As a new way to get involved, Jackrabbits around the globe posed with a mini foam finger, pointing out the scope of worldwide passion for South Dakota State University.Â
In just 24 hours, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students and friends worked together to fuel support, shatter records and build what comes next at State.Â
The celebration starts with one day, but the effects of this generosity will be felt at SDSU year-round.Â
