Half a Million for State

1 gift. Every 36 seconds. For 24 hours.

That’s the breakdown of what Jackrabbits in 47 states and across five countries accomplished together on August 29 during One Day for STATE 2018. The SDSU Foundation’s second annual giving day celebrated all it means to be part of the Jackrabbit family and the impact that can be made through private gifts. The yellow and blue photos, touching stories and SDSU spirit shared that day were nothing short of extraordinary.

In 24 hours, 2,138 donors came together, raising $574,445 from 2,402 gifts to transform lives at SDSU, supporting opportunities like scholarships, academic programming and student travel. Alumni, donors, friends and 268 students joined forces to unlock $244,000 by completing all 32 challenges, even after zooming past the initial 1,300 donor goal by 7 p.m.

One Day for STATE isn’t about the size of individual gifts. In fact, 83 percent of the gifts were $100 or less. It’s about teaming up with others to make a difference at SDSU by creating new opportunities for current and future Jackrabbits.

The transformational day continued with a picture-perfect night at the Yellow and Blue Block Party on the Alumni Green. In the shadow of the Campanile, thousands of Jackrabbit friends and families came together to celebrate One Day for STATE. The block party was complete with a Pride of the Dakotas pep rally, SDSU ice cream, local food trucks, kids activities and student-athlete signatures.

A team of 433 social ambassadors and strong campus partners played a key role in the fundraising efforts through the use of their social media networks, spreading the word about the celebration and encouraging their friends and family to take part in One Day for STATE.

Take a moment to think of all the new opportunities created for Jackrabbits because of One Day for STATE. It wouldn’t have been possible without YOU, our loyal Jackrabbit supporters. View more One Day for STATE results at www.sdstatefoundation.org/odfs2018.
