The 11 wins are the most in program history, surpassing the nine-win seasons done eight times.

The Jacks’ offense set five single-season team records, including scoring 521 points and racking up 6,141 yards of total offense. State’s average of 438.6 yards of total offense per game broke the 437.7 yards per game that had stood since 1951.

Individually, numerous Jackrabbits set season and career marks but none like wide receiver Jake Wieneke. In addition to the STATS FCS Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award, receiving an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the National Football Foundation’s All-Scholar Team, being one of 13 finalists for the William V. Campbell Trophy and named to Allstate AFCA Good Works Team, Wieneke continued his impressive play on the field.

Wieneke established SDSU and Missouri Valley Football Conference records for career receptions (288), receiving yards (5,158) and receiving touchdowns (59) during a standout career in which he has been a four-time first-team all-league selection and a three-time All-American. In addition, Wieneke set the FCS record for most consecutive games with a reception of 53.

Fifty-three is also the number of games started by center Jacob Ohnesorge, who tied the school record. Ohnesorge was the FCS winner of the Rimington Award, which is presented annually to the most outstanding center in all divisions of college football.
