Pet’s Name: Sammie

Owner: Hayley Lindaman

Sammie is a fun and loving dog and the biggest Jackrabbits fan. Sammie made every home soccer game this past spring. She plans to make every home game this fall as well. Sammie has fun taking walks around campus and loves to show off her SDSU jersey. If you don’t see her on campus, you can see her chewing a bone or cuddling with her owners. Her big smile and wagging tail makes her loved by all who meet her.

Pet’s Name: Nina

Owner: Jim Berreth ’55

Our home always had a dog or two when our children were growing up. When they “left the roost,” and the last two dogs passed, my wife, Kathryn, and I decided we wanted to do some traveling. After visiting approximately a dozen countries, my wife thought it was time we had a dog again. Just months later, we had a dog again—precious Nina! We both fell in love with the dog immediately but, naturally, she became Kathryn’s dog.

Four years ago, Kathryn was diagnosed cancer. For the last three months of Kathryn’s life, Nina pretty much lived on Kathryn’s lap. After Kathryn died, it didn’t take long and she became my dog. Nearly every time I sit in my chair, she jumped up directly on my lap. The joy and comfort she has brought to us, especially these past four years, have been such a tremendous blessing. In my eyes, she is MY “Jackrabbits Pet of the Month!!”
