As we reflect on this year’s commencement, we are reminded of the importance of our role in preparing students to become leaders in their industries and communities. We are proud of the growth in knowledge and confidence that students have achieved during their time at SDSU, and we send them off with bittersweet feelings as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
This year’s graduation was particularly special as we celebrated surpassing the 100,000 alumni milestone. We are honored to have played a part in your academic journey, whether you were the first in your family to attend college or are following in the footsteps of generations of Jackrabbits before you. We are thrilled to welcome the newest members into our community of accomplished alumni.
I thought back to those early classes of a few dozen students, to the ceremonies on the green at the historic Coolidge Sylvan Theatre, to today when graduation day includes three commencement ceremonies to accommodate the size of the graduating classes. We have remained committed to the spirit of access and inclusion, and it is this commitment that has enabled us to reach this historic milestone together.
As you look back on your time at SDSU, we encourage you to remember the classmates who pushed you to be better, celebrated your achievements and helped you realize your potential. Your experiences at SDSU have helped shape who you are today, and we are proud to have been a part of your journey. We look forward to continuing to celebrate your successes for years to come.
With loyal heart so true,
