This issue of STATE provides some updates on things happening academically at your alma mater. The realignment and renaming of colleges and the creation of schools are part of the ever-changing higher education landscape to continue to prepare students for the world after college. SDSU continues to put a high priority on academic quality and word is getting out.
For many years, the College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Professions has been a leader in preparing pharmacists. Now, after leading the nation with the highest first-time pass rate (99.1 percent) on the NAPLEX for 2016-2018 graduates, the college’s residency match rate for pharmacy graduates was 82.2 percent, almost 20 percent higher than the national match rate of 64.4 percent.
There are hundreds of universities offering nursing degrees, but the College of Nursing at SDSU can boast that they have two programs ranked in the top 15. According to Study.com, the doctor of nursing practice program ranks No. 12 and the nurse practitioner program comes in at No. 14.
Study.com also ranked SDSU in its top 10 of 50 Best Colleges for Education Majors. For nearly two decades, SDSU has graduated more teacher education students than any other South Dakota Board of Regents’ institution. We are training the next generation of educators.
All of this is possible because talented people work hard to make the dreams of students a reality. Forbes recently released its list of America’s Best-in-State Employers and ranked SDSU No. 2 in the state.
Hard to argue with facts like those.
