• Al Whitlach, an associate professor in the teaching, learning and leadership department, retired Dec. 21, 2011, after nine years.

• G. Howard Nielsen, a professor in the mathematics and statistics department, retired Jan. 10, after 35 ½ years.

Retiring May 21:

• Timothy Andera, a professor in the teaching, learning and leadership department after nine years.

• Ann Marie Bahr, a professor in the philosophy and religion department, after 24 years.

• Catherine Calhoon, an instructor at West River nursing, after 21 years.

• Patrick Emmons, an assistant professor in the civil and environmental engineering department, after 15 years.

• Paula Goddard, an instructor at West River nursing, after 16 years.

• Joel Hefling, an assistant professor in the communication studies and theatre department, after 42 years.

• Joyce Lampson, an assistant professor in the communication studies and theatre department, after 34 years.

• Janet Lord, head of undergraduate nursing, after nine years.

• Gail Tidemann, dean of continuing and extended education, after 26 years.

• Gordon Tolle, a professor in the history and political science department, after 35 years.

• Mary Tolle, an assistant professor in the department of engineering technology and management, after 23 years.

Retiring June 21:

• Sandra Bunkers, head of graduate nursing, after seven years.

• Catherine Carter, a professor in the plant science department, after 23 years

• Delvin DeBoer, a professor in the civil and environmental engineering department, after 33 years.

• David Francis, a professor in veterinary and biomedical sciences, after 34 years.

• Mylo Hellickson, a professor in the agricultural and biological sciences department, after 43 years.

• David Hilderbrand, interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, after 38 years.

• Marilyn Rasmussen, an associate professor in the department of counseling and human development, after 15 years.
