Jackrabbit Pride Radiates Around the World

During our recent Jackrabbit Journeys trip, we were in our hotel bar in Athens, Greece collecting to go to dinner when a gentleman came over to one of the travelers in Jackrabbits gear and introduced himself as a fellow State grad. Turns out, his college roommate’s brother was on the trip. Part of me marvels at the chance meeting of another Jackrabbit in the wild, after all, we found ourselves in the same bar at the same time in a city with lots of hotels and bars half a world away from campus. The other part of me thinks, “Of course that happened.”

When I am wearing Jacks gear in the airport, it is common to hear a “Go Jacks!” from across the way from a fellow alum. I often hear from alumni who start a new job and before the end of the first month they have found the campus connections within their new workplace. And many of you have shared that you will be somewhere you never imagined seeing a Jackrabbit flag, and there it is on the wall for all to see.

The amount of pride that alumni, staff and friends have in this place brings a smile to my face often, and I hope you are proud of your alma mater and what it has done for you and continues to do for students year after year.

That pride was evident when the SDSU Foundation announced that over 30,000 unique donors contributed to the Bold and Blue campaign. What a testament to the power of coming together and the magic that can happen when Jackrabbits come together for the greater good.
