Over the course of a year, there are a lot of things to take pride in as an alumnus of South Dakota State University. We celebrate new and remodeled spaces improving the environments in which learning takes place. We celebrate faculty and students being recognized for high achievement in their fields of study and activities with awards and grants for that work. We celebrate the culmination of a college career at commencement. We celebrate the retirement of beloved members of the faculty and staff who have left their mark in countless ways on this special place.
We also play host to large camps, conferences and conventions that bring future Jackrabbits to campus to learn and be inspired to think about this special place being a part of their next chapter. In April, a record number of FFA students from across South Dakota made their way back to campus for the first time in three years.
And over the course of that year, thousands of you make your way to campus to celebrate those achievements. This year, one of those events captured the hearts and minds of young and old alike. With SDSU’s commitment to bid to host the WNIT games, the women’s basketball team had a rare opportunity—win a national championship on their home court with thousands of alumni and friends cheering them on.
Whatever brings you to campus, I hope you take the time to explore a little and see just how much has changed, while the heart of who we are has remained the same for nearly a century and a half. And if you haven’t been back in a while, consider this an open invitation to come back and reminisce.
With loyal heart so true,
Andi Fouberg
