State named the most affordable nationally ranked public university

U.S. News and World Report named South Dakota State the most affordable nationally ranked public university in terms of tuition and fees.

The publication has also ranked State in the following categories:
Top Public Schools – 110th, tie;
High School Counselor Rankings – 141st, tie;
Engineering Programs (doctorate) – 183rd, tie; and
National Universities – 202nd, tie.

U.S. News and World Report credited South Dakota State with its 17:1 student-faculty ratio, noting 32.4 percent of its classes have fewer than 20 students.

State currently has 12,613 for the fall 2016 semester.

In addition, Educate To Career Inc. has named South Dakota State University a 2017 Top 100 Best Value College. The designation applies to the first 100 colleges out of the nearly 1,200 colleges and universities ranked. South Dakota State is No. 65 in the 2017 rankings, climbing from No. 113 in 2016.

The 2017 ETC College Rankings Index’s methodology uses data and analytics to rank schools by economic value created for their students. The index identifies the colleges that are graduating students and preparing them for the labor market.
