Jackrabbit Central expands to Rapid City

South Dakota State University Director of Business and Auxiliary Services Derek Peterson announced that Jackrabbit Central, the university’s retail entity for SDSU merchandise and apparel, has expanded to Rapid City and recently opened at 611 Main Street. Jackrabbit Central’s other locations are in downtown Brookings and at the SDSU University Student Union.

“The popularity of the Jackrabbit brand continues to grow and our alumni and fans have been clear they want a greater presence throughout the state and region,” Peterson said. “Opening a store in Rapid City is a logical first step and something we believe will be well supported by the thousands of Jackrabbits living in
West River.”

Peterson said the process for opening the Rapid City store began several months ago, and that the possibility became more of a reality when retail space opened downtown on Main Street and a unique partnership with Black Hills State University formed.

“I don’t think we could ask for a better location in Rapid City, being downtown on Main Street,” Peterson said, explaining the space will be shared with BHSU. “We would not be able to do this without the partnership through the Black Hills State Bookstore. We are thankful for that relationship.”
